What we do

The WHRDIC is the only global coalition to promote and protect the rights of WHRDs.

We do grassroots-driven international advocacy aimed at protection mechanisms, laws and policies that provide justice for WHRDs and feminist activists. We take collective action to amplify the voices of WHRDs, build international solidarity, and support defenders to carry out their work free from threats and violence.

We provide WHRDs and feminist activists with tools and analysis to be used in their local and international advocacy, as well as information on resources available to them if they are at risk, collaborating with our members on urgent appeals. Our pioneering materials on WHRDs are used at the movement, government, regional and UN levels.

We also engage with the UN system, developing analysis and research for the Human Rights Council and its Special Procedures - especially the Special Rapporteur on the situation of HRDs - as well as for Treaty Bodies and their members. We have also participated in and guided experts of the African and Inter-American human rights systems.

We continue to be relied upon for ideas, building bridges between the UN human rights system and activist movements, mobilising partners to lobby governments at critical moments, and progressing national implementation.
